Concert Radar for March 10 to March 16, 2025 | Peterborough, Ontario
We're not gonna get it perfect every time, but here are the concerts we've heard about this week.
Thursday, March 13
| Rory Taillon at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (8-10 p.m.) (PWYC)
Rory Taillon is one of those “around the country and back” artists and Peterborough is lucky to have him. Brooklyn Doran, an honorary Peterborough musician, describes him as a true powerhouse:
“When people say ‘powerhouse vocalist,’ they actually mean Rory Taillon. For fans of Frank Turner, Shakey Graves and Killswitch Engage—you’ll hear the saddest songs delivered with a punch! Not seeing Rory Taillon perform is like drinking warm beer through a straw.”
Seems like an easy choice. Check out Hatchet from his latest album, Now It’s Quiet. Listen here.
| The Union at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (10 p.m.-midnight) (PWYC)
This weekly event features five to six of Peterborough’s best musicians jamming—live and in public. Bassist Sam puts it simply:
“I mean, ‘cause it’s cool…?”
A clear endorsement.
Friday, March 14
| Delaware String Band at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (8-10 p.m.) (PWYC)
Local bluegrass and old-time music—a perfect way to kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
| Cherry Garcia Band at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (10 p.m.-1 a.m.) (PWYC)
Saturday, March 15
| John Hoffman, Banish Misfortune, Hardwood Cat & The Skelligs at Camp Kawartha (1:30 p.m.) (PWYC)
A family-friendly, alcohol-free St. Patrick’s Day matinee celebrating Irish music.
| Wild Cards at The Pig’s Ear Tavern (4 p.m.)
| Séan McCann at Market Hall (SOLD OUT)
| The Silver Hearts at The Pig’s Ear Tavern (25th Anniversary Show) ($5/PWYC DOOR)
The Silver Hearts recently released The Man Who Has No Country, a collection of songs written by Joe Hall. This is a must-see show. Don’t miss it!
| David Newberry at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (8-10 p.m.) (PWYC)
|The Space Heaters at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (10 p.m.-1 a.m.) (PWYC)
Sunday, March 16
|Sunday Afternoon Blues Jam hosted by Alan Black at Jethro’s Bar + Stage (3-6 p.m.) (FREE/PWYC)
A Peterborough staple, this weekly blues jam is hosted by local legend Al Black. Come by to hear some of the best blues musicians in town—or bring your instrument and join in.
